Bollywood and its impact on society

Directly or indirectly, Bollywood has had its major impact on our society. We often say that Bollywood is a reflection of our society but I feel its completely the opposite. The fiction element in hindi movies does influence the society to a great extent.
I have observed the changes our Indian culture and society has experienced with the advent of various lifestyle and mindset elements Bollywood has showcased in recent times. We generally, unknowingly, start believing or atleast imagining what we watch in the movies and that for sure has a lot of impact on who we are and what we want to become.
The various eras in Bollywood have been a source of different good and bad inputs in the society. What I find most amusing is the glorifying picture of criminals in the Hindi movies. When we watch Amitabh Bachhan, Sharukh Khan, Feroz Khan, Anil Kapoor and others playing bad guys, we certainly are moved by their charm.
When we watch Meena Kumari singing for her husband after getting drunk or Jeenat Amaan singing Dum Maaro Dum under drugs' influence, we do feel a high. There are numerous movies where extra marital affairs, prostituion, gambling, smuggling, drugs, etc. have been shown in a way that it makes us think whether we really need to keep ourselves away from such activities or not.
At the same time, Bollywood has contributed a lot towards issues like illetracy, poverty, dowry, widow remarriage, corruption, etc.
I would like to conclude that Bollywood has its own role, and quite a significant one, in changing and reforming the society. We should take care how and with what and up to what extent we are getting influenced.
